FAQs
How do I book an appointment?
Book online by selecting the session length and preferred opening on the booking page. Once you have booked your appointment online, you fill out the massage intake form and I will confirm your appointment.
Which massage duration do I need?
50 min → One area of concern or quick tune-up
60 min → Standard full-body massage or one focus area
75 min → Full-body plus extra therapeutic work
90 min → Deep, comprehensive whole-body session with multiple focus areas
If you're unsure, opting for 75 or 90 minutes gives the therapist the flexibility to address your needs without rushing.
What can I expect from a 50-minute massage?
A 50-minute wellness session is ideal for clients looking for a quicker, targeted treatment
- Maintaining wellness on a tight schedule
How is a 60-minute massage different from a 50-minute session?
A 60-minute appointment allows enough time for a full-body treatment with extra focus on one area of tension
- General relaxation, first-time clients, or regular wellness maintenance
Why choose a 75-minute massage?
A 75-minute session is perfect for clients who want a thorough full-body massage with deeper attention to multiple problem areas.
- Best for those with chronic tension; extra time for techniques like stretching, deep tissue, or mobility work.
What are the benefits of a 90-minute massage?
A 90-minute session offers the most complete experience of enhanced stress relief and full-body integration
- Best for chronic pain, self-care days, or clients who enjoy a luxurious, immersive treatment
What should I expect from my first appointment?
When you arrive, we'll review your massage intake form and discuss your goals for the session. Then, I'll explain how to get on the table before I leave the room and give you privacy to make yourself comfortable. When the session ends, I'll step out again so you can get dressed.
Is it necessary to remove my clothing?
No, it is not required. The most essential part of any massage is that you're comfortable. Some clients undress fully for their sessions, some underwear, and others wear shorts. I only ask you to remove clothing to the extent that you feel comfortable. No matter what you choose to wear, you'll be under a blanket for draping. Draping is required by the NC Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy, and breasts and genitals must remain covered.
What if I'm self-conscious?
We all have parts of our body we're self-conscious about. Some areas you may be concerned about are:
Your weight
Unwanted body hair
Scars
Acne or other skin blemishes
Please don't let this stop you from getting help from a massage therapist. If you're sensitive about a particular area, ask for it to be avoided. Whatever your concerns, know that Serene Wellness Studio is friendly, supportive and judgment-free.
Is massage painful? Should I see a Massage Therapist if I'm not in pain?
No, massage therapy is not supposed to hurt. It is not unusual to feel discomfort during your massage and feel some soreness afterwards. This is due to a release of lactic acid in the muscles. Massage therapy is a great natural solution when you want relief from pain, but it can also be used as a preventative treatment.
What is a Minor Wellness Massage?
The minor wellness massage is a youth massage for teens ages 13-17. It is a classic Swedish massage, that will ease your child's muscle tension and allow their mind into a calm state of relaxation.
What if I need to use the bathroom?
It is recommended going to the bathroom before your session, but it can occasionally happen that you'll need to go during the massage. Please speak up so it does not interfere with your experience.
Is it okay to talk during my massage?
Some people prefer to chat during their massage session but don't feel like you have to make conversation. When your massage begins, I'll check in to ensure you're comfortable on the table, and I'll occasionally ask about pressure or have you adjust positions. You will experience the greatest benefits from your session if you allow yourself to become relaxed and restful for a sense of peace.
What if I've experienced trauma (or abuse) that is still triggered by touch? Should I let my massage therapist know?
Yes, absolutely let your massage therapist know if you do not want to be touched in a specific area or in a certain way. You don't have to provide any details, and you have the right to ask for a break or end the massage at any time for any reason.
How often should I get massages?
The frequency of massages depends on how much pain you're in, how your body reacts to massage therapy and your budget. Biweekly is idea. Committing to self-care can bring positive changes to your physical health, well-being, and stress levels.
Do you offer in-home outcall massages?
Yes, I offer in-home/outcall massage exclusively for prenatal clients.
This service is designed to provide expecting parents with convenient, comfortable, and safe care in the privacy of their own home. I bring everything needed for your session, including the massage table, linens, and specialized prenatal bolstering.

What if I am using a walker or wheelchair?
Clients who use mobility aids, including walkers and wheelchairs, are always welcomed. Serene Wellness Studio is designed to be accessible, and I am happy to provide any additional assistance you may need getting to and from the treatment room.
Before your appointment, feel free to let me know what accommodations would make your visit most comfortable—whether that’s extra time for getting settled, help with transfers, or keeping your mobility device close by during the session. Your safety, comfort, and dignity are always my priority.
When should I avoid massage?
If you are feeling unwell, it's better to reschedule your appointment. *If you need to reschedule, even if its less than 24 hours please contact me immediately. If you have recent injury (broken bones, bruising, sprains, strains, or inflammation), massage should not be performed in those areas. I recommend seeking a massage therapist specially trained in oncology massage if you have cancer.
